Valerie Bell is a seven-time author and popular speaker who shares her spiritual journey with refreshing honesty.
As a sought-after conference speaker, TV and radio media guest, and local church communicator, Valerie shares the realities of her faith with a warmth and sincerity that’s contagious. Also, she currently serves as the board chair for MOPS International, where the tagline is, “Better Moms Make a Better World.”
Her latest book, An African Awakening: My Journey into AIDS Activism, was written in response to a life-jarring moment in Africa. Holding a 4-year-old girl who was dying from malnutrition and AIDS, she thought, “This is obscene. This is wrong. There should be no such thing as a child suffering like this in the world. But what can I do?”
Her story is about the 18 months in her life that followed, when she began a personal journey into AIDS activism. An African Awakening is an honest account of her struggle to become the change she wanted to see in the world. It is a record of an intentional lifestyle change, a spiritual pilgrimage, with both its discouraging failures and its deeply satisfying successes.
If you’ve ever thought that this kind of tragedy should not exist in the world, Valerie will motivate you with creative yet practical ways to personally address the human suffering.
“How the story ends depends on the kind of spiritual lives we choose to live in the age of AIDS,” says Valerie.
If you want to see a better world, if you want a better ending to a tragedy that should not be, and if you want to have a part in that change, Valerie’s dynamic, heartfelt presentations will show you how to “be that change.”
